Marcus Anderson Jazz and Coffee Escape
LUMENAV provided production support, lighting, and broadcast mixing services
For the 2025 edition of Marcus Anderson’s Jazz and Coffee Escape—affectionately known as MAJACE—LUMENAV was brought in by Production Manager Jose Umstead to provide full-scale production support. Hosted at the Hilton in Durham, NC, this year’s event featured headliners like Kenny Lattimore, Dave Koz, Jeff Bradshaw, and Marcus Anderson himself. The task was to convert a non-traditional hotel ballroom into a high-impact concert venue—despite the lack of flyable rigging and limited infrastructure. Our team embraced the challenge and delivered an immersive, premium experience that met both artist and audience expectations.

LUMENAV has supported MAJACE since its roots in Asheville, evolving through years of partnership with Marcus Anderson—from university settings to professional venues. At each stop, we’ve tailored our production approach to enhance the artist’s vision and maximize audience connection. In 2025, this meant deploying a compact but powerful audio system using Meyer UPJ mains and 700HP subs, strategically placed at head level to preserve sightlines and acoustics in the space. The system’s clarity and warmth were praised by both engineers and performers, with front-of-house mixing by Marty Taylor bringing the room to life.

On the broadcast side, audio was clocked externally Antelope Audio 10MX through a DL251 stage box, with signal routed across three Behringer Wing consoles. One Wing handled FOH, another was dedicated to monitors, and the third was used for stream mixing, managed by LUMENAV owner Morgan Edwards. This setup ensured that the remote viewing audience received the same high-fidelity experience as those in the room.

To complete the transformation, we sourced a refined lighting package from Capitol Production Group that included twelve Chauvet Rogue R2 Beams for dynamic motion and four Ovation Source Fours for clean, flattering front light. All fixtures were operated via a Hog 4 console, allowing for tasteful and intentional lighting that elevated performances without overpowering the atmosphere.

At LUMENAV, we believe great production should amplify—not overshadow—the artist. Our team lives by three core principles: see the artist, hear the artist, and feel the atmosphere. MAJACE 2025 stands as a case study in what’s possible when those values meet resourceful creativity and technical discipline. Even in a limited ballroom setting, we delivered an experience that left artists inspired, audiences engaged, and the entire event elevated beyond expectation.
